Dance of Lion

Tanec Lva

The Lion dance is a traditional Chinese dance which came to existence several centuries ago, and practically has not changed since then. In the original meaning it was a dance, which presented the Chinese people having been suppresses by the colonial powers of Europe. However, this dance has not been properly understood by the Europeans, and they have wrongly understood him as a form of a rustic entertainment ever since. Paradoxically, the Lion was learning to master various styles of combat and to feel meekness to it at the same time, so that he could later use these abilities in the battle against the oppressor of China. The Lion dance is a very interesting spectacle for any audience, as the whole set of the dance is highly dynamic and effective. It is suitable for the firm presentations, for either indoor or outdoor premises.

The Chinese Lion Dance Today

The Chinese Lion Dance is performed by three dancers. Two creates the body of the lion and the third represents a boy who awakens the dragon, plays with him and teaches him various tricks as well as the obedience. At first the lion gives an impression of a mere puppy; however, as the training proceeds he masters several acrobatic and fighting skills and features. All this is accompanied by the rumbling of Chinese drums.
